Start of Tax Season
Tax season for tax year 2023 is expected to begin at the end of January 2024, when the IRS begins to accept e-filed returns. Overall, the IRS anticipates this year that 9 out of 10 taxpayers will receive their refund within 21 days of when they file electronically with direct deposit.
Be Aware of Fraud Risk: Everyone is Getting those Scam Phone Calls
Scammers are calling, emailing claiming to be from the IRS and are becoming more sophisticated and aggressive in these scams. The IRS does not initiate communication with taxpayers through email, nor will they call and threaten you with arrest or hefty fines if you don't provide information or immediate payment. Bottom line: the IRS will always send taxpayers written notification of any tax due via the US Mail. If you have any questions or doubts related to a letter, phone call, or e-mail, please call us before providing any financial or personal information.
